SYBL, then known as the Drug-Free League, was launched to promote recreational youth basketball in economically disadvantaged areas of San Antonio, since impacting over 420,000 kids and coaches across 23 sites in the past three decades.
Annually, the league offers 10,000 children from primarily lower income neighborhoods the opportunity to play basketball and improve their athletic skills while learning teamwork, cooperation, and discipline in a positive and safe environment. Each participating coach is certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance. Spurs Youth Basketball League is presented by Pizza Hut and the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation, a fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation.
